joe vasquez has new details about that man. joe. >> reporter: ken, just as a community gathered to grieve here at this memorial, we've learned some more information about the suspect, 32-year-old anthony lamar jones. according to the sheriff's department, he now faces charges of murder, kidnapping, and rape. they came from all over northern california. fairfield where 13-year-old janelle conaway was murdered. where she lived with her foster family, vallejo where she used to live with her natural mom. josh allen is her birth father. >> what do you want to say to this guy who did this? >> you know, i mean, he'll get what he deserves. >> 500 people lit candles and said a prayer at the site where janelle's naked body was discovered just one week ago. just a few hours after cops announced an arrest. >> no answers. the questions why and why didn't you leave her alone?

and i hope you get what is coming to you. >> jones was identified early on as a suspect. since then, he has been under 24 hour surveillance. there was no danger to public. >> the suspected murder, 32- year-old anthony lamar jones is a barber by trade. these photos from a social networking site show him hard at work at the crowns barber shop. one of several places surrounded by yellow tape today. a section of east taber, was also a crime scene. this is where a surveillance camera captured janelle's image moments before she was kidnapped. >> super creepy, my little girl here, so it's creepy, but i'm glad they caught the guy. >> police and fbi investigators spent the day collecting evidence at jones' home on clipper lane where folks can't believe their neighbor was capable of kidnapping, rape, and murder. >> strange and quiet.

you didn't really say much. >> jones is scheduled for his first court date next wednesday. ken, there's a mix of anger here tonight, mourning, comfort for the family and appreciation to the police in catching the man who they say killed the 13- year-old girl. >> yeah, and still a will lot of shock. joe vasquez in fairfield tonight, thank you, joe. the exl.a. cop is still on the loose. detectives searched his mom's home in orange county and removed ten bags of evidence. cbs reporter, edward lawrence, tells us once again the weather is not helping the search. edward. >> reporter: exactly, elizabeth. that search is focused on big bear, an area near a ski resort and they had to stop searching the woods in that area because the snow is accumulating too greatly for them to get through there. now they will start searching again in the morning. however, there are two dozen officers on the mountain near big bear. they are on the roads.

they are just waiting to see if they can find christopher. at the moment, there's been no sight of him. the sheriff also confirmed that the tracks around the car, one of the tracks was a pair of skis. they followed that track for six miles. still, no sign of him. >> tactical teams are searching in a snowstorm as the hunt continues for accused killer, christopher dorner. the burned out truck was found east of los angeles on thursday. authorities are trying to search hundreds of cabins over eight square miles. >> we're going to continue searching until either we discover that he left the mountain or we find him, one or the two. >> dorner was fired in 2008. police released surveillance photos of him at an l.a. area hotel. investigators say his rampage started six days later when he shot and killed two people, including the daughter of a police captain. on thursday, authorities say he exchanged gunfire with two police officers and got away. later he shot and killed

another officer who was at a stoplight. police in los angeles are on high alert. officers continue to look for clues that will lead them to the suspect. investigators searched the home of dorner's mother and carried out boxes of evidence. u.s. marshals and armed officers stood nearby. >> obviously, dorner's where abouts are unknown. we want to take precaution. >> dorner declared war on law enforcement in the manifesto on facebook. the 33-year-old believes he can avoid capture, writing, i will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordinance, and survival training i've been given. dorner will need those survival skills if he's still in the big bear area. the temperatures are below freezing. >> now the l.a.p.d. here is on tactical alert and that means officers will not ride alone. they are very worried here because they have seen that the bullet that dorner has can rip right through a car and a bullet proof vest. reporting live in los angeles, edward lawrence, elizabeth, back to you. >> is there any talk that this

former l.a. police officer that was trained and was trained as a sniper, and he obviously knows what he is doing. he has this manifesto. any talk that this big car is nothing but a diversion to distract police officers while he goes some place else? >> you know, that is something that they are considering. he did leave his wallet in san diego. he also tried to rob an 81-year- old man of his boat in san diego, but he came back up to river side county and he committed the murders after all of that. so, they are considering that this could be a diversion. but they don't want to lead any stone unturned. if he's in that area, it's a very confined area. there's one way in, one way out. so they would like to trap him in there. if he's in there. they have to execute all possibilities and they are following through on this big bear option. >> already, edward lawrence in los angeles, thank you. some new details tonight, how the monte mansion murder, police statement shows ravish

was blindfolded and gagged with packing tape. his hands and his feet were also bound behind his back. his wife told police that the attackers then tied her up next to him saying quote, be quiet if you want to live. she called 911 when they left, but kumra was dead by the time officers arrived. officers say he died from asphyxiation. forensic evidence led to three men with oakland gang ties. police say the ghost town and money team gangs have been working together targeting asian and east indian families. investigators think a prostitute led them to his home. the feds say a would be terrorist thought he was about to trigger a civil war by blowing up a bay area bank. the kpix5 reporter tells us, he made a critical planning error letting the fbi build his bomb. >> the end of the line for matthewcame here at this bank of america branch near the

oakland airport. a partner who he thought was a member of the taliban was actually an undercover fbi agent. and agents arrested him as he attempted to detonate, what he thought was a bomb. he recently lived at this north san jose home with his father. neighbors say the family lived here for years and very reclusive. they are also shocked by today's arrest. >> does that concern you? >> well yes, of course it does. especially with two small children. >> but he also has a criminal history where he was arrested on weapons charges in 2011. and his own father told investigators that matthew had converted to islam. matthew was a former marine with a belief that the secret police or government is trying to follow him. according to today's federal criminal complaint, laniza told the fbi agent he would dance with joy when the bomb exploded. >> wow. that's as real as you're going

to get. something hitting that close to home. hopefully -- thankfully it was thwarted. each contained what he thought was a powerful explosive mixture. he bought two cell phones, one to be used as a detonator, the other as a trigger. since there was no bomb, it was harmless. >> and court documents show this plot began on november 20. that is when he made contact with that under cover fbi agent. he made his first appearance in federal court today. he faces a life prison sentence if convicted. reporting live in san jose, i'm mark sayer, kpix5. a hand cuffed prisoner who managed to escape police has been rearrested. san jose police first arrested anthony sanchez on wednesday on outstanding warrants. officers used two sets of handcuffs because he is a large man. he managed to step over the handcuffs so they were in front
